Although Search Engine Optimization or SEO is just one aspect of your Internet marketing campaign, it is an important one and all Internet marketers want to be on Google's good side. Make your customers happy and you'll make the search engines happy as well.

Links are important too but be careful here. Links work the same way in Cyberspace that word of mouth does in the real world. You don't want your site associated with links that have no relevancy or that could bring your site a bad reputation. Don’t get so desperate for links that you'll agree to swap links with just anyone. After all, you wouldn't want to recommend your cousin the drunk for a position at your company because, inevitably, your drunken cousin would mess up and that would look bad on you. It works the same way with exchanging links with other sites. Before you do this, review the other site to make sure you want your site associated with that one and vice versa.

Marketing trends are constantly changing and so are the algorithms search engines use to judge your site. Keep up with all these changes so you'll know what counts and what doesn't. Specifically, be in the know about what may count against you when it comes to how Google and the other search engines rank your site. However, by offering your customers a pleasant and useful experience when they visit your site, you're already climbing the search engine ladder quicker than many would-be Internet marketers looking to make a fast buck.
